International Students and Delicious Ottoman Foods

Foreign Relations Application and Research Center Doç. Dr. Murat Türkyılmaz and General Coordinator of Health, Culture and Sports Department Öğr. Gör. Burak Işçimen in order to adapt international students in Turkey have held a cooking workshop activity in Sosyal Tesesleri, Trakya University. The event was attended by 13 international students from Albania, Bulgaria, Kazakhistan, Crimea, Kosovo, Macedonia, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan and Greece. Rector of Trakya University Prof. Dr. Erhan Tabakoğlu also attended at this event

The aim of this event was to give the opportunity foreign students to introduce their selfs and to see Trakya University like a second home. At this event students were divided into three groups and they had to cook a traditional Turkish food which was cooked since Ottoman Empire. This traditional food is called “Zirva”. Also, at the kitchen of “Sosyal Tesisleri” students were free to cook their own traditional food or any recipe they love. 
After students learned to cook the old Ottoman recipe where they also cooked it, they were judged by the jury. Students at this event learned a lot of things about Turkish culture and enjoyed it. In this event the students also presented some of the foods and songs of their countries.

Öğr. Gör. Burak Işçimen, Doç. Dr. Murat Türkyılmaz and the Rector of Trakya University Prof. Dr. Erhan Tabakoğlu thanked the students for the participation and the professors who contributed to this event.
